Düsseldorf, Germany: The members of Josh Diesel are thrilled to announce the addition of the German acid-folk band the GERT JONNYS to Diesel's fall of 2005 "Tour of the Roses".

Based in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Gert Jonnys have made a name for themselves with such hits as "Tears on my Schnitzel", "My Baby is a Crybaby", "Angespannt Auf Phonik" and "Cry me a Fluß". Delighting German senior citizens for 3 decades, the Jonnys feel they are closer than ever to booking a gig at the Berlin-Steglitz Nursing Home in Berlin. "The Steglitz is the Madison Square Garden of old people homes", says Jonnys front man Helmut "Gas House" Röttjer, "they have a wonderful community room and all the newest technology which means we wouldn't have to compete with noisy respirators".
Josh Diesel is hoping that the young and edgy crowd that follows them, known as Gas Heads, will embrace a band that has yet to attract interest from anyone but the elderly and hard of hearing. "Our appeal has remained pretty local", admits Jonnys master clapper Karl "Jackhammer" Grünewald, "and while old people are great listeners, we're very excited to join forces with the Josh Diesel and bring our sound to America".
After being banned from medically related facilities in the U.S., Diesel legend Jack Turner took a job in a Düsseldorf nursing home's pharmacy. It was there that he discovered the Jonnys. "It's Synergy," whispers Turner, "they've got some synergy with us and we have some too". Lead singer Josh Baron adds, "What's not to like about these guys? They're a lot like us... colorful, good vest wearers and total beefcakes". The Jonnys' will bring their trademark day-glo outfits and "perma-cry" facial expressions to New York in November when Diesel's "Tour of the Roses" kicks off at the 7th annual Weekend of Dreams.
The Gert Jonnys have gone through many phases to arrive at their current incarnation in which the band members affect permanent grimaces. "We were noticing an increase of flatulence by our audience, a dead giveaway for faltering focus," says Röttjer, "so we tried out this crying thing and our fans responded to it".
It remains to be seen whether the Jonnys' crying gimmick and knee slapping antics will be welcomed by the legions of Gas Heads. Whether this collaboration is successful or not one thing's for sure, it will be freaky.
